“When One Falls, We All Fall.”

This sentence, since it escaped Min. Abbey Ojomu prayer-soaked mouth during the May edition of Qavah 2022, has repeatedly sunk deep into me for months. I have spent the best of my time meditating on it and at some point, I admit that I have fallen short of each side of the divide.

I have fallen and many have tripped off through my (in)actions too. This is not a mumbled confession; it is a truth I am confronting heads on. But I have repented and I need others in this shoe to repent and retrace their steps back.

For leaders, simple maxims like this can be apt in summarizing how lonely the top is. It is always lonely to the point where it takes super conscious effort to face the guns when that is all you have left to get back on track. This does not mean that you are not a believer neither does this interprets that you are lost. All it puts forward is a point of disconnectedness that needs to be addressed in your life.

There are times when your being right is actually the truth and vice versa. And also, there are times where your actions are best forgotten than reiterated. But the difference in these phases is your ability to pick the bullets out of the wound when it is safest. It is not just about removing the bullets; it is about removing it when and where it is safest. If not, you will end up losing your arsenal for journeying through.

Apostle Paul was never oblivious of this when he said “those things I do not want to do is what I find myself doing”. This sentence did not drop off because he was not a core believer, the scriptures recorded more his teachings in the New Testament than any other author. This therefore shows to us as leaders that being on the stage is not a permanent reality that we are infallible.

“let he that stands take hide less he falls”.

Every (in)decision we make has leaders affect the body, directly or indirectly. This is because the body is a composite response container of what goes on in the head. We are to prioritize the vitals that keep us going on this faith journey. And as we do this, we must be conscious of the little deeds, conversations, inactions, and arguments that slid others down the rope.

To be frank, I wished I had done things better or had spoken better or even shown some sensitivity better than I did. I, again, wish that everyone I had pulled down, directly or indirectly, will read this and find a space in their hearts to forgive me.

I know better now and I am sorry for everything. The destined purpose for me is to be a light and this is what I want to be remembered for. I don’t want to keep souls down while I ascend the ladder, in whatever dimension there is. I just want to bring in more souls to the fold as Christ Jesus did and will continue to do through me by the help of the Holy Spirit till Christ returns. You also can join me on this. We truly rise by lifting others.

Shalom!
