*Oya Gberra!*

The cringing desire to say something and then fizzle out midway fold humanity back into my throat - _e choke_! You know that moment you’re squeezed into unexamined spaces - that delicate mind-leaping process that launches you into unimaginable spaces! These were my experiences these past weeks, a full dose of _i-never-experrit_ situations.

OMG! I got jinxed in many ways than not.

It all started with a booming ROI (Return on Investment) from a writing gig I got a week before. Goodness, this alert was special. I loved it like oil-soaked beans with diced plantain. My bank smiled. Meaning, they invincibly signaled my debit gang to come peeled off the zeroes till I had an arrogant 0 dot a crippled 50 kobo.

This was the very moment _“broke”_ meant _“BROKE”_.

I won _“broke nigga of the month”._

Then, things blended in. This time, gradually.

A client sent in some 7k and I also secured a role with one of my customers who was just venturing into the Fintech space. I had met with him one casual morning when he came to get some cash and we robbed minds on our knowledge about the Fintech business. I guess, he was surprised an English graduate knew this much.

“I don’t intend to employ any staff but I will make you an aggregator so you get some cut of the business as you help project the business”. This was his closing remark. Few days later, I got my cut of the deal after selling my first product.

My phone beeped once; then sporadically. My bank had wiped out 15k+. They claimed the fees were legal – VAT and 3% of some extra withdrawal on the counter and ATM.

Oops! I lost these in a day.

The next day was Saturday. I had joined a vigil a night before so I decided to sleep that morning, only to be jabbed off my bed with an emergency call. A _HOOGE_ sum of money had been mistakenly sent into a wrong account- inside this economy! I didn’t know what to do at first, but I smiled and afterwards held back my tears with some worship songs.

My mum called in to remind me about her drugs and some youngster from church called in to check up on me as well as ask for some assistance. The bills never end — adulthood is a scam!

All these didn’t happen when I was boxed up. It chose this time.

Like Job, the punches hit me. The jabs too. Still, I stood.

Life, certainly, will throw you down at unexpected times. Here is the biggest trick to living strong and bold. When you fall, yes, you must rise. And if again you fall, you must rise again. The war isn’t won because people actually fell during the battle, most wars are won because one of the parties decided to stay down. Yes, _“dis life no balance”, “de pressure boku”_ but for every unbalanced experience you are in, please never give up on the dreams, goals, vision, and all that has the potential of making you a winner. _Gberra!_
